Ania Karzek

With more years in government than she’d care to count, Ania has worked across a number of disciplines, including water, environment, government reform, social services and most recently, child protection. She has also seen how the other half live, and worked in the private, university and not for profit sectors in consulting and operational management roles.

For several years now, Ania has been championing digital and data ethics and has pleaded with audiences to think slowly, broadly and deeply about the impacts of their technology choices.

A disruptive policy wonk by trade, Ania has a passion for connecting the art of the possible with the care we need to take in making it happen. Endlessly fascinated by ‘why?’, she believes in moonshots and doing cool stuff with technology…. as long as we do it with our eyes wide open.

Speaking Experience

Ania spoke at SXSW 2019. She has also spoken at a number of national and state conferences throughout Australia about digital transformation, digital government, the shadow traits of digital and, her favourite topic, digital and data ethics. She is currently scheduled to speak at three national Australian conferences in the second half of 2019. Audiences have included a variety of public (state and local) and private sector audiences, as well as students and the general public.

Nathaniel Mason

A diverse breadth of interests and experience has led to Nathaniel to pursue passions in technology, photography, music and theatre in various professional and volunteer capacities.

Early career experience in hospitality management founded a customer service ethos that created an opportunity to move into IT consulting with hospitality systems. After 5 years travelling Australia, undertaking technical installations and training on system interfaces, voice and hotel back office systems.

In 2012, Nathaniel’s feet landed back on solid ground, joining Local Government in South Australia as an IT Solutions Architect and at the same time founding Mason Digital Photography, creating space for opportunities in both IT consulting and professional photography.

Bringing unique approaches to enterprise technology problems has led Nathaniel to a current IT team lead role in Local Government, overseeing IT Project Management, strategy and data at a large metropolitan Council, with a focus on business engagement, digital solution design and orchestrating the chaos of technology and business into effective outcomes.

In a creative capacity, Mason Digital Photography is an official photographer of several major South Australian events including Adelaide Fringe, Tasting Australia and the Barossa Vintage Festival, and frequently works with local wine, theatre and dance companies, amongst others.

Speaking Experience

Nathaniel has over 20 years of stage experience as a speaker, musician and actor. Professional speaking engagements include presentations at national software company events with HP and Infor and sharing insight with South Australian audiences on emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence, Process Automation and The Internet of Things.

Out of the spotlight, Nathaniel has even more experience from every angle off-stage as a stage manager, lighting and AV operator, stage crew and orchestra member. Nathaniel has, and continues to manage stage operations for TEDxAdelaide and SouthStart major state conferences since 2016 in a thoroughly enjoyable collision of theatre, technology and innovation.
